Oh man, I’m burning up! My fever’s at 105 and I feel like I’m about to explode. It’s so hot in here, it’s like a sauna! I’ve been trying to cool down with cold compresses and fluids but nothing seems to be helping. This is no joke - if my fever doesn’t break soon, I’m gonna have to go see the doctor. Wish me luck!

Temperature: A fever is defined as a body temperature of 100.4°F (38°C) or higher. A fever of 105°F (40.5°C) is considered a high fever and requires medical attention.
Symptoms: Along with the elevated temperature, other symptoms may include chills, sweating, headache, muscle aches, fatigue, loss of appetite and dehydration.
Causes: High fevers can be caused by infections such as the flu or pneumonia; however they can also be caused by other conditions such as heat exhaustion or certain medications like antibiotics or chemotherapy drugs.
Treatment: Treatment for a high fever depends on the underlying cause and may include rest, fluids to prevent dehydration and over-the-counter medications to reduce discomfort associated with the fever such as ibuprofen or acetaminophen for adults and children over 6 months old respectively . In some cases prescription medication may be necessary to treat an infection causing the high fever .
