Greetings, iam Sara Nichols, Have a splendid day!

Well, it’s a sad fact of life that humans have gone extinct before. Yup, you heard me right - we’ve been wiped out in the past! It’s hard to believe, but it’s true. From natural disasters to wars and disease, there have been times when our species has been completely wiped out. But don’t worry - we’re still here today! So let’s take a look at some of the times humans have gone extinct throughout history.

How Many Times Have Humans Almost Been Extinct? [Solved]

Wow! That’s crazy. Anyway, it caused a global winter that lasted for six years and reduced the human population to as few as 10,000 individuals. Yikes! Then, about 12,800 years ago, a comet or asteroid struck North America and wiped out most of the large mammals living there.

Fast forward to 536 AD when an extreme cold spell hit Europe and Asia causing crop failures and famine. This event is known as the ‘Mystery Cloud’ because of its unknown origin. And in 1347-1351 AD, the Black Death killed up to 200 million people in Eurasia - that’s almost half of Europe’s population at the time! Finally, in 1816-1817 AD came ‘The Year Without a Summer’, when volcanic eruptions caused temperatures to drop worldwide leading to crop failures and famine again. Phew!

  1. Toba Catastrophe Theory: This theory suggests that a volcanic eruption in Sumatra approximately 74,000 years ago caused a global cooling event that reduced the human population to as few as 10,000 individuals.

  2. Quaternary Extinction Event: This event occurred around 11,700 years ago and is believed to have been caused by climate change and overhunting of large animals by humans. It resulted in the extinction of many species including mammoths, mastodons, saber-toothed cats, and giant sloths.

  3. Holocene Extinction Event: This event is ongoing and has been attributed to human activities such as habitat destruction, pollution, overhunting and fishing, introduction of invasive species, and climate change. It has resulted in the extinction or endangerment of numerous species including tigers, rhinos, elephants, gorillas and other primates.

Humans have gone extinct before, and it’s happened multiple times. It’s a scary thought, but it’s true. Whoa! We’ve been wiped out in the past, and it could happen again. Yikes! It’s not something we like to think about, but it has happened throughout history. I mean, we’re not invincible - extinction is a real possibility. Let’s just hope that doesn’t happen anytime soon!
