If your BMI is between 25-29.9 kg/m2, you’re considered overweight. But if it’s 30-34.9 kg/m2, you’re obese (Grade I). And if it’s 35-39.9 kg/m2, you’re obese (Grade II). Anything over 40 kg/m2 is considered morbidly obese or Grade III obesity.

  1. Body Mass Index (BMI): BMI is a measure of body fat based on height and weight. It is used to determine if someone is overweight or obese. A BMI of 25 or higher indicates that a person is overweight, while a BMI of 30 or higher indicates obesity.

  2. Waist Circumference: Waist circumference measures the amount of fat around the waistline and can be used to determine if someone has too much abdominal fat, which increases the risk for health problems such as heart disease and diabetes. A waist circumference greater than 40 inches in men and 35 inches in women indicates an increased risk for health problems due to excess abdominal fat.

  3. Skinfold Measurements: Skinfold measurements are taken with calipers at various sites on the body to measure subcutaneous fat, which can indicate how much total body fat a person has relative to their lean muscle mass.

  4. Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis (BIA): BIA uses electrical signals sent through the body to measure total body water content, which can be used as an indicator of overall body composition including muscle mass, bone density, and percentage of body fat relative to lean muscle mass.

  5. Dual-Energy X-ray Absorptiometry (DEXA): DEXA uses low-dose x-rays to measure bone mineral density as well as total body composition including percentage of lean muscle mass versus total amount of kilos
